Stair Pressurisation Air Conditioning System

In a fire emergency, stairwells are the primary escape route for building occupants. If smoke infiltrates these stairwells, visibility drops, breathing becomes difficult, and safe evacuation is compromised. A stair pressurisation system actively prevents this by forcing clean outside air into the stairwell at a higher pressure than the surrounding areas, creating a barrier that smoke cannot cross.

We design, install, and commission stair pressurisation systems that meet NCC and AS 1668.1 fire safety requirements for Class 2-9 buildings across Sydney. Our systems are engineered for each building’s specific configuration, including pressure relief dampers, variable-speed fans, and intelligent controls that modulate airflow based on how many doors are open during evacuation.
